Reserch fields of the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering:
1. Analysis and control of hydrodynamic and flow noise performance of ship and ocean engineering structures and theory and method of multidisciplinary design optimization: The main research contents include the computation of fluid mechanics, ship resistance, propulsion, seawall, maneuvability, flow noise of ship and ocean engineering and the theory and method of multidisciplinary design optimization. The main feature is to combine computational fluid dynamics research with ship design to improve and develop new ship types; combine ship motion response with control to improve ship's maneuverability and seakeeping performance.
Achievements: A key laboratory for ship and ocean engineering hydrodynamics has been built in Hubei Province, which has strongly supported the engineering application of new ship types; developed a ship motion physical simulation system and a ship multidisciplinary design optimization program system for multi-features of ships balanced design provides a good support platform. This research has been funded by the national defense research foundation and the national natural science foundation. The completed scientific research project won the first and second prize of ministry level.
2. Analysis, control and optimization of mechanical and acoustic performance of ship and ocean engineering structures: The main research contents include fluid-solid coupling analysis of ship and ocean structures, underwater explosion, structural response analysis under dynamic load such as missile launch, active and semi-active control of structural vibration, acoustic radiation prediction and control, analysis and control of welding deformation and intelligent optimization design methods, new marine composite sandwich structures, etc.
Achievements:The researchers have proposed several new impact resistant structures which have important reference value for the development of the new generation of ships; in-depth study of structural vibration and acoustic radiation mechanisms and engineering applications of various special parts of ships is carried out to provide important technical support for the overall design; a method for predicting welding deformation of ships with high precision is proposed, which provides technical support for optimizing construction process; the intelligent optimal design method which can be widely used is researched and developed. The research direction has won a number of national natural science foundation projects and national defense advanced research projects.
