Welcome to School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

       The school is a host to three departments, Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Department of Water Supply and Sewage Science and Engineering, Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering, and a research institute, Environmental Science Institute. The three departments offers bachelor degree in the respective disciplines. Postgraduate programs are provided for Degrees of Master and Science, Master of Engineering and Doctor are offered in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Municipal Engineering, Heating, Urban Gas, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineering. Each year the school recruits around 200 freshman and around 130 postgraduate students including 15 doctoral student.

      The Environmental Science and Engineering in this school is a Key Discipline of Hubei Province, which consists of the Key Laboratory of Water Supply and Sewage granted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Engineering Laboratory of Solid Waste Treatment and Resourcing of Hubei Province, Center of Water-Quality Security and Water Pollution Control Engineering of Hubei Province, and Demonstrative Education Center on Environment and Building of Hubei Province.

        Currently, 27 professors, 25 associate professors, and 11 lecturers form the faculty in the school. They carry out course teachings for undergraduate and postgraduate students, scientific research and engineering consultancy. 2 of the professors are selected into the National 1000-Young-Talents Program. 4 senior engineers, 2 engineers and a technician take the responsibility of laboratory operation and maintenance. Additional 14 staff members play the important role of administration and management. 22 postdoc are working here in collaboration with professors or associate professors.

     The school of Environmental Science and Engineering is characterized with multidiscipline. Cooperative research programs exist between this school and other schools in the HUST including material science, mechanical engineering, energy engineering, life science and etc.. Since the establishment of the school in the year of 2000, notable advancement has been achieved. Now, The Environment and Ecology at HUST stays in the top 1% ESI ranking.
