On the afternoon of October 26, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the University of Australia held an online signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding. Chen Jianguo, Vice President of HUST, and Tayyeb Shah, Vice President of International Affairs for UWA attended the meeting. Representatives from the Office of International Affairs, School of Physics and School of Management of the two universities participated. Our Vice President Cai Jianming and Prof. Lu Zehuang as representatives of the school participated.
Chen Jianguo, Vice President of HUST, and Tayyeb Shah, Vice President of International Affairs for UWA made opening speech respectively. Two sides extended the hope that the two universities would establish a more constructive relationship based on a profound and solid cooperative foundation. Peng Yumeng, Director of America and Oceania affairs of the Office of International Affairs, gave an introduction for the previous cooperation between two universities.
In the discussion, our Prof. Lu Zehuang from the school of physics introduced the cooperation in the aspects of students cultivation, research cooperation, the application of 111 program with Prof. Michael Tobar’s team. Prof. Michael Tobar also pointed that he has visited the school of physics of HUST many times before the pandemic and the CGE, which is a national research platform, left a deep impression on him. The two schools now establish a solid cooperative foundation, expecting further cooperation in the future.
Vice President Cai Jianming introduced school of physics of HUST firstly. Supported by three national platform, the key laboratory of MOE and the Hubei provincial key laboratory, the discipline of physics develops at a fast pace. Prof. Wang Jinbo from department of physics of UWA also said that the department has established hundreds of years, building a numbers of research teams and lab centers in the field of astrophysics, computational physics, experimental physics and theorical physics. In the future, It is hoped that in the future, based on the current cooperation, both sides can continue to promote higher level academic and educational exchanges for an even better relationship.
