The China final of 11th PATW Global English Speech Competition was hosted on May 27th-28th by University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. SES sophomore Yilin Luo represented Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and won the third place.
Yilin’s speech Fluorescence in Surgery introduced application of fluorescent dye in surgeries, which can help surgeons in accurate location of tumors and avoidance of inadvertent injuries. Her fluent English and confident performance impressed the judges. She emphasized that what really matters is not the result, but the experience of competing with all those brilliant contestants around China.
In total 25 contestants from universities around China, including Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Zhejiang University, etc., participated, introducing frontiers of science and technology in simple and vivid style.
