On November 22nd, 2023, IEEE announced the list of newly elected Fellows for 2024. Dean Dan Feng was elected as a Fellow.

Dan Feng: professor; doctoral supervisor; NSFC Distinguished Young Scholar; dean of the School of Computer Science and Technology, HUST, chief of the Information Storage and Optical Display Function Lab at Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics; chief of the Key Laboratory of Information Storage System of  Ministry of Education of China; chief of the National Laboratory for Data Storage System and Technology. Her primary research focuses on computer system structure, large-scale data storage systems, non-volatile memory technology, and memory-computing integration. She acts as the chief scientist in 973 programs, "study of theoretical and technical foundations for the complex application environment-oriented data storage system" and "study of organizational model and core technology for the next generation internet information storage"; the general leader of the expert panel in the 863 major programs "key technology of mass storage system"; the academic leader of MOE innovation team in the "information storage system and technology"; the project leader in the NSFC innovation study group program "big data storage system and technology." She undertakes research jobs in many programs, including 973, 863, NSFC, the national top 100 excellent doctoral papers special fund, CNGI program, and beforehand research program, and has achieved several results. She publishes over 200 academic papers and two pieces of literature in significant domestic and overseas academic journals and conferences. She has been granted 80 invention patents and more than ten software copyrights. She leads the establishment of six national and three industry standards in Chinese electronics. In terms of research results, she won three provincial first prizes and two national second prizes for technology invention, one national fourth prize for nature science, and one global finalist prize for storage competition. In terms of teaching achievements, she received a national second prize for teaching achievement.

IEEE, short for Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, is the International Association of Electronics and Information Science Engineers and has more than 420 thousand members from over 160 countries. IEEE Fellow, the top level among members, is the highest honor granted by the organization. The elected candidates must contribute significantly to advancing and applying engineering, science, and technology and be of great value to society. Every year, they are selected through public appraisal from the members who have outstanding contributions. The number of elected candidates is one-thousandth of IEEE members.
