Alumni Back to Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Graduation
On the 3rd of October, 22 alumni of English for Science and Technology enrolled in 1999 came back to school to celebrate the 20th anniversary of graduation. Represents of teachers, including Pro. Xia Taozhen, Hu Zhiqing, Chen Yuhong, Wang Mangrui, also joined in the activities.
Every alumnus and alumna did their self-introduction and recalled their 20-year-ago days in school. They all owed their development to the cultivation of school and expressed their sincere gratitude to the teachers, one of the alumni cried that, “ I’ve got nothing to say but thank you and bless you! ”
4 represents of teachers also recalled their time spending with the alumni and introduce the changes and development happened in Foreign language school. Pro.Xia and Pro.Wang recollected their unforgettable memories in study and life with the alumni; Pro.Hu hoped that the alumni could be the mentor of the undergraduate in our school, giving them suggestions on future development; Also , Pro.Chen express her best withes to all the alumni.
The photos and videos of the absent alumni were also presented. During this, a 30-minute video that cover every detail of their college life was the climax of this event, in which every picture shows the memories of the good old days, bringing people back to the their youth.
After the activity, all the people had a group photo taken to mark this special occasion. Also, they adopted the prune trees planted by the alumni of EST of 2009, and left their heartfelt blessing in school.
Alumni Engaged as Mentor
On the 25th of May, Alumni Engagement Meeting was hold in Foreign Language School, provost of academic affairs office, Yi Yuanxiang, President Fan Weiwei , deputy President Zhang Zaihong and deputy Secretary Que Zijiang also attend the meeting, Secretary Liu Fan as the conductor.
Pro.Fan expressed her welcome and gratitude to all the alumni and people presented, and expressed her expectation to the alumni mentors. She pointed that, alumni are the talent of different field with rich experience, which will guide the undergraduate. The school will continue to support and promote this cause.
Mr Yi also presented at the meeting. He underlined that, alumni mentors are an part of the special education, an solid foundation of student work system. Also, he hoped this system could make the full use of it advantages, becoming an important education management resource.
Represent of the alumni mentors also represented. He understands that they have duty for the development of our school, and they will communicate with the students and offer help. Represent of student parents and undergraduates also expressed their opinions and expectation.
Alumni Back to Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Graduation
On the 1st of May, 18 alumni of Japanese enrolled in 2000 came back to school attending the celebration of the 10th anniversary of graduation. Leaders and teachers of Foreign Language School, including Ms Que Zijiang, Pro, Wang Qiuhua, joined the activity too.
Ms Que expressed her welcome on behalf of the President and Secretary of school.she recalled that, 10 years ago, the Foreign Language School hadn’t established. However, many changes have happened here during the last ten years. She introduced the general situation of school, including disciplines and majors. Alumni all highly spoke and felt pound of it.
Alumni shares their experiences of the ten years. They not only meet teachers’ expectation but also provide their precious experience for the undergraduates. On study, perseverance is the golden key; On language, English should always be of importance; On work-field, mastering office software and expanding all-around knowledge is very significant; On relationship, cherishing of friendship and humble mind can win friends. After the event, the school present souvenirs to all the alumni, representing the deep relationship between them.
They also shared their memories of college life, all the rebel hearts and determination of yesterday mixed with the sweetness of reunion, everything becoming alive.
Alumni Adopting Trees
On the morning of March 1st, teachers, students and alumni of Foreign Language School get together in the Friendship Forrest adopting trees. President Fan Weiwei , Secretary Liu Fan and deputy Secretary Que Zijiang also included.
Pro.Fan said that, she hopes all the teachers and students together to beautify the campus. Ms Que explains the meaning of adopting trees. The roots represent the foundation; the trunks represent the wish and devotion; the crown represent the achievement and duty.
Friendship Forrest of Foreign Language School is located in the prune garden , in front of the No.7 West Dorm and north of the Youth Garden. Before, alumni of 1977, 1988 and 1999 also adopted tress here. Freshmen and graduates also adopted trees today.
Heart to Heart: holding of the “Alumni Forum”
From May 16th to 17th , Lin Qinghong, the graduate of 1992 came back to school and communicate with the undergraduates. Mr Lin is a Ph.D of Griffith University in Australia, a research supervisor of University of Adelaide. His research is on the relationship of politics, culture, psychology, philosophy and language. He has published 7 papers, 8 reports and 2 translation books home and abroad. Also, he has been in Australia for nearly 20 years, with rich experience of studying abroad. The school has invited him to give a speech on studying abroad. Students of the school also attended.
At the beginning, Pro.Fan gave the opening speech. She expressed her welcome and recall the memories when Mr Lin was in the school. His devotion and determination on study encourages everyone to learn from him. During the speech, Mr Lin’s Australian English and humor soon candle the atmosphere. He gave a brief introduction of his life and study in Australia,then introduce the exchange program of university of Adelaide. Students were very enthusiastic and raising questions. Mr Lin’s patience left a deep impression to everyone. Everyone has learned a lot from him.
