The 1st Chinese-Turkmen Science and Innovation Forum was successfully held in Ashgabat, capital city of Turkmenistan, on October 11th and 12th, 2017. Co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology of P.R.China and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, the forum was organized by the Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province.
The organization of this forum is an important measure in implementing the consensus on deepening bilateral S&T cooperation that reached by President XI Jinping and President Berdimukhamedov during their meeting in June 2016 at Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Tashkent. It is the first forum on science innovation over the past 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Turkmenistan, which is also one of the relatively high-end events on bilateral cooperation.
This event has attracted more than 500 participants including President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan Ashyrbayev, Minister of Education Agamuradov, Ambassador of China to Turkmenistan Sun Wei, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department of Ministry of Science and Technology Chen Linhao, Deputy Director-General of Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province Du Yun as well as representatives from research institutions, universities and enterprises.
With the theme of the forum "Innovation, New Technology and Problems by Their Introducing into Production", the technical and managerial personnel of the two countries have conducted academic communication and carried out thematic exchanges around earthquake monitoring, modern agriculture, clean energy and salt lake resources etc. ICARE was invited to participate in the forum and reported at the conference.
At the opening ceremony of the forum, Mr.Agamuradov, Minister of Education in Turkmenistan conveyed President Berdymukhamedov’s congratulations to the event, which said that strengthening scientific and technological cooperation, cultivating innovative talents, transforming scientific and technological innovation are important directions for the Chinese-Turkmen relations development. The active academic exchanges and collaboration exploitation of Turkmen Academy of Science and related research institutes with ICARE of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and other Chinese scientific research institutions will become important initiatives to consolidate Chinese-Turkmen cooperation which will be conducive to the two countries’ economic and social development.
Ambassador SUN Weidong attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He put forward three proposals: First, transfer scientific and technological achievements as soon as possible into practical productive forces to ensure quick benefit for the companies, the society and the people of both countries through bilateral cooperation. Second, work out a specific cooperation plan upon the situation in which manifests the long-term strategic cooperation between China and Turkmenistan. Third, attach great importance to talent exchanges and cultivation to reserve abundant intellectual resources for the two countries’ long-term and sustainable development on S&T.
ICARE Vice-dean YI Hui, Research Center Director Prof. HU Song and Prof. XIANG Jun from State Key Laboratory of Coal Combustion attended the forum. Prof. Hu Song introduced in his keynote speech the energy situation of China, researches on energy filed and Sino-international cooperation on energy in HUST. At the roundtable meeting which was held in the Technical Center of Turkmen Academy of Science, two specific collaboration intentions were reached by ICARE with Turkmen Thermal Energy Institute and Solar Energy Institute.
