Dr. Yan Yunjun, from Luotian County, Hubei Province,P.R.China. In 1993, he graduated with honors from the Department of Biology, Central China Normal University, with a bachelor's degree, and in 1995, with a master's degree; in 1998, he graduated with honors from the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences with a Ph.D.degree, and then entered Huazhong Science and Technology. He works as a teacher at the College of Life Science and Technology, and is currently the associate dean, second-level professor, doctoral supervisor, and deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics of the Ministry of Education. He mainly engages in synthetic biology and biological materials, energy biotechnology and enzyme engineering, aquatic biology and other research work, including: gene editing technology, synthetic biological parts (including field sensitive parts), cell factories, biological intelligent manufacturing, bio-based materials, biological living materials, biological cement, biological viscose, anti-fouling and drag-reducing materials; key technology, engineering and industrialization of biodiesel preparation, high-value technology and engineering application of biodiesel and oil; lipases genetic engineering, fermentation engineering, protein engineering, structural biology, new enzyme immobilization technology and its application research and development in the fields of bioenergy, health food, new bio-based materials, chiral drug resolution, and synthesis of new fine chemicals; lipid metabolism of energy algae, key technologies for coupling preparation of biodiesel and high-value products; molecular mechanism of biological hydrogen production, metabolic regulation, and key technologies for hydrogen production; the structure and function of water ecosystems and their dynamic succession process under natural and stress conditions, ecological energetics and productivity ecology, fine food web construction, water microbial community structure dynamics and succession mechanism and its role in material circulation (especially the decomposition of toxic substances); ecotoxicology of algae toxins, heavy metals and new technologies for biological treatment of such pollutions.
He presides over 5 general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China / 1 national major strategic project (chief scientist), 2 general projects / 1 major 863 project / Key 863 Projects /1 863 special Project / 1 Consulting Research Project subject from the Chinese Academy of Engineering / 7 major horizontal projects; and participates in 1 item of the National Basic Science Talent Training Fund /5 general 863 projects / 2 National "Tenth Five-Year Plan" key projects / 1 major consulting research project from the Chinese Academy of Engineering (responsible for specific implementation); as well as presides over other 30 projects from different departments, provinces, cities and enterprises. He has published more than 360 academic papers, including more than 180 papers indexed by SCI, with a cumulative impact factor of over 500 points, an H index of 30, and a total of more than 3,500 citations, among which, 3 papers were also indexed as Hot paper and Highly cited paper (2014-15, 2019-2020, 2019-2020); edits/participates in the compilation of 20 textbooks and monographs, including 4 English monographs, 2 of which are English encyclopedias. He applied for 22 national invention patents and 10 has been authorized. He won the title of "Advanced Individual in Anti-SARS" by the Science and Technology Research Group of the National SARS Control Headquarters, a second prize of the "Chinese Preventive Medicine Association Science and Technology Award" and a second prize of the "Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award" . He instructed undergraduates to win 4 global gold awards in the international iGEM and Biomed competitions, and 3 global silver awards; also won the "My Favorite Project" and "Best Creative Project" awards in the 12th National College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Annual Conference. He won the Outstanding Instructor of the National University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program , Outstanding Teacher Award of Baosteel Corp., a Second Prize of Provincial Teaching Achievement, a First Prize of School Teaching Quality, a Special Prize of School Teaching Achievement. He was selected as Chief Scientist of National Major Strategic Projects, New Century Excellent Talents Program of the Ministry of Education, Hubei Province Outstanding Young Talents Program, Hubei Province Outstanding Contribution Young and Middle-aged Experts, Zhanjiang City Industry Leading Talents (Class B) Program, Central China Distinguished Scholars-Special Appointment I.
