长期从事极紫外驱动光源、复合材料加工、高功率气体激光器及激光电源等方面的研究工作。主持国家级项目2项、企业委托项目6项。成功研制2-5kW直流激励轴快流CO2激光器，万瓦级射频激励轴快流CO2激光器，用于极紫外驱动的万瓦级激光放大器。获武汉市科技进奖一等奖一项，发明专利10项，软件著作权11项，项目鉴定6项。完成了多项激光器产品产业化，广泛应用于机械加工、钢铁、船泊制造和军工等领域，创造了巨大的经济和社会效益。
