On February 25th, the 2023 HUST Spring Sports Carnival was held at the central playground. Ma Jianhui and Zhang Yao, the Vice Chairs of the University Committee, were present in the opening ceremony. More than 5,000 teachers and students attended the carnival.
In this carnival, there were about 40 games, including many Chinese traditional sports like dragon boating, tai chi, and pitch-pot.
The opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m. was welcomed by the soft spring sunshine. Performances were given by cheerleaders and performers.
HUST is the first non-sports university to offer rugby courses in Hubei Province. Zhang Lin and Ji Yang, members of the junior faculty in the School of Physical Education, participated in the opening ceremony.
At 9:00 a.m., Ma Jianhui announced the opening of the event. He and Zhang Yao later played some sports games with students and listened to their feedback in terms of campus sports activities.
The event was divided into a morning session and an afternoon one. In front of every camp of sports associations was lined up with a long queue of students.
When moonlight took over the day, the cool night under the starry sky attracted students of participation to take out their cameras and record that moment.
The success of the sports carnival brought a pleasant time to the teachers and students in their leisure. School associations were also developed and popularized during the process.
As a branded school event, the sports carnival has provided a driving force for students’ self-teaching in sports, helping them promote sports skill, and develop a lifelong habit of exercise.
