The HUST Global Summer School 2023 kicked off on July 3rd. This program was led by 127 prominent experts from 46 institutions across 17 countries, and has enrolled a total of 1,484 students from 70 institutions in 13 different countries.

President You extended a warm welcome to all participating students and then highlighted HUST’s longstanding commitment to open education and its responsibility in promoting social progress and fostering global development. He stated that this summer program serves as a tangible manifestation of HUST’s collaboration with its international partners and esteemed educators, as well as its devotion to the cultivation of exceptional students.
President You also pointed out that the Global Summer School 2023 has three main characteristics. First, it boasts a wealth of academic resources and four curriculum modules, namely, Basic Discipline Growth Partner Summer School, Tongji Summer School, The Intelligent Construction Summer Camp and The Living Environment Workshop. These modules delve into the latest advances in cutting-edge areas such as programming calculation and engineering applications in mechanics. Second, the program offers a variety of activities. It combines classroom education with experimental research, business visits, and exchange with research institutes, and provides two unique practical opportunities—the Chinese Culture Experience Camp and the Scientific Research Challenge Training Camp. Third, the program promotes multicultural integration. It has invited 127 leading experts from 46 renowned universities around the globe to deliver lectures.
Finally, President You extended his heartfelt blessings to participating students, hoping that they will benefit greatly from this program.

Shu Xiaogang, Vice Dean of Tongji Medical College of HUST, stated that the primary objective of the Tongji Summer School is to bring together superior educational resources from China and abroad and establish an interdisciplinary platform for global medical elites through a combination of theoretical lectures and innovative interactions. As a significant component of the Global Summer School, the Tongji Summer School has invited 18 global medical experts to teach 13 English-language courses, covering the latest advancements in various disciplines, including basic medicine, clinical medicine and public health.

Associate professor Lu Feng from the HUST School of Computer Science and Technology demonstrated the powerful capabilities of parallel computing, using ChatGPT as a starting point. She emphasized that the programming practice courses will offer systematic instruction on parallel programming methods and provide a series of programming experiments.

As student representatives, international student Mohammadreza Kosari from the Second Clinical School of HUST and undergraduate student Chen Qiuman from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) expressed their hopes for the 2023 Global Summer School.
Finally, Ma Jianhui announced the official opening of the HUST Global Summer School 2023.
