The appointment ceremony of Academician Yang Chunhe was held on November 25th, 2022. President You Zheng presented the letter of appointment to Academician Yang Chunhe as chief scientist of energy storage discipline of the School of Energy and Power Engineering.

On behalf of HUST, You Zheng extended warm welcome and heartfelt appreciation to Academician Yang. He pointed out that it is of great importance for the school to bring out strengths and make up for weaknesses in discipline construction, innovation platform building and talent training. And the school was expected to seize the moment to carry out core technology research in energy security, carbon peaking and carbon neutrality so as to accelerate the development of world-class disciplines and make contributions to the realization of the national objectives of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality under the guidance of Academician Yang.

Academician Yang gave a lecture titled "Prospects and Challenges for the Development of Hydrogen Energy Industry in Hubei Province", in which he analyzed the current situation, challenges and development direction of hydrogen energy industry in Hubei Province, and put forward suggestions for future cooperation.

Yao Hong, School of Energy and Power Engineering, said that the joining of Academician Yang would bring talent training and first-class discipline construction to a new level, injecting strong impetus into the development of the school.

Yang Chunhe is a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. Yang, as a pioneer in the field of salt rock mechanics and underground salt rock oil and gas reserve engineering, initiated the discipline of layered salt rock mechanics theory and engineering. He has won four second prizes of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, five first prizes of Technology Progress Award of provincial and ministerial level, with six monographs and more than 300 research papers, as well as more than 30 authorized invention patents, etc.
