On June 22, the graduation ceremony for the class of 2022 at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) took place in Optics Valley Gymnasium. Nearly 7,000 undergraduates gathered to celebrate their lives and studies in their prime at HUST. Soon they’ll set off from here in pursuit of a brighter future. University leaders, alumni representatives, representatives of middle school principals, as well as heads of schools and departments attended the event.

In the warm-up session, graduates sang the School Song of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Qingtian ("Sunny Day"), Juejiang ("Stubborn"), Guyongzhe ("Lonely Warrior"), and other songs, enlivening the atmosphere of the scene.

Every scene in the graduation video Shaohua ("Youth") brought back fond memories for HUSTers of their good times striving at HUST. The pictures of the familiar campus, kind teachers, and lovely classmates evoked the memories of graduates and strongly resonated with them.

All the teachers and students rose to their feet and sang the national anthem. Ma Jianhui, the Vice Chair of the University Committee, presided over the graduation ceremony. Executive Vice President Wang Wei read out the decision on the 2022 conferment of bachelor's degrees and honorary bachelor's degrees of HUST. Vice President Zhan Yiqing read out the decision on the commendation of outstanding graduates and the decision on the commendation of graduates who are going to work in struggling areas of West China, the grass-roots departments, and the national key units. Li Yuanyuan, the Chair of the University Committee, presented certificates to the representatives of the award-winning graduates.

President You Zheng delivered a commencement speech with the theme of "Embracing the Epoch, Moving Towards the Future Together", urging graduates to embrace the era with strong beliefs, great minds, and firm goals and be excellent people in this great country.

Qin Lanhao, a graduate representative from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, fondly recalled his four-year undergraduate life. In his speech, he called on graduates to go to places where talents are urgently needed and to be leader standouts in our great revitalization.

Professor Gao Liang, a teacher representative and the Chair of School Committee from School of Mechanical Science and Engineering expressed his hope that graduates can learn to love themselves, others, and their lives, and be responsible and, enterprising people.

Academician Yu Dengyun, an alumni representative, the deputy director of the Science and Technology Committee of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and the deputy chief designer of China's Lunar Exploration Project encouraged the graduates to lay solid professional foundations, transition their roles smoothly, maintain sincerity, think systematically, learn to be persistent and create miracles on the path to their dreams.

After the graduation ceremony, the graduates received their degrees. University leaders and department heads turned the tassels and shook hands with them with blessings, during which group photos were taken.
