In order to strengthen university-industry integration, promote the transformation of new research achievements and scientific innovation, HUST and Guide Infrared, a Wuhan-based hi-tech company focusing on infrared thermal imaging technology, decided to build a joint laboratory for image recognition and flight control. The agreement signing ceremony of the joint lab was held at HUST Academic Exchange Center on May 10, 2022.

Prof. Zeng Zhigang, dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation, HUST, and Su Wei, Deputy General Manager of Guide Infrared signed the cooperation agreement. You Zheng, President of HUST, and Huang Li, Chairman of Guide Infrared, inaugurated the opening of the joint lab together. The ceremony was hosted by Xie Xiaolin, Vice President of HUST.

You Zheng stated that, the in-depth cooperation with Guide Infrared was significant for the exploration of an effective cooperation mechanism between university and industry. In the future, the joint lab would help make breakthroughs in core technologies in key areas and mutually promote high-quality development.

Huang Li stated that, the joint lab would serve as a platform that combined the advantages of a scientific institution and an industrial entity to carry out advanced research in the field of image recognition and flight control. He added that with various R&D projects and state-of-the-art facilities, the joint lab would become an ideal training center for students. He believed that the joint lab would play an increasingly important role in promoting technological progress and industrial upgrading, creating a win-win cooperation for both sides.

A seminar was held after the agreement signing ceremony, at which scholars and professionals from both sides exchanged views on the progress of collaborative research projects, and the cutting-edge scientific research in the field. The seminar was inspiring and fruitful.
