KAWABATA KATSUYA, Executive Director of Mitsubishi Electric, Chief Representative of Mitsubishi Electric in China and Chairman & President of Mitsubishi Electric (China) Co., Ltd., visited Huazhong University of Science of Technology (HUST) on the afternoon of January 4. Xie Xiaolin, Vice President of HUST, met with KAWABATA.

Xie welcomed KAWABATA to HUST, expressing his appreciation for Mitsubishi Electric's attention and support to HUST. As a "double first-class" university, HUST is among the top in China in terms of talent training and sci-tech contributions, he said. HUST has attached great importance to collaborating with and learning from world-renowned enterprises like Mitsubishi Electric. In 2020, the two sides signed a cooperative agreement on building a united innovation center to form a strong partnership in fields such as intelligent manufacturing and edge computing. He hoped that the two sides would deepen practical cooperation and achieve win-win result with the support of KAWABATA, thereby further promoting Sino-Japanese friendly exchanges and cooperation.

KAWABATA expressed his gratitude for HUST's hospitality. Guided by the environmental statement of "eco changes", Mitsubishi Electric has been endeavoring to build an advanced international environmental enterprise. The company has attached great importance to the Chinese market and worked with Chinese universities to further serve the green development of China and help China achieve carbon peaking and neutrality. HUST enjoys prominent advantages in fields such as machinery manufacturing, digital manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing as a Chinese top university, he said. This year coincides with the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic normalization of Sino-Japanese relations, he noted, hoping that the two sides would constantly deepen cooperation to jointly create a model for Sino-Japanese exchanges and cooperation.

EGAWA TAKESHI, Director and Vice President of Mitsubishi Electric (China) Co., Ltd. and Gao Liang, Party Secretary of the School of Mechanical Science & Engineering of HUST reviewed the previous cooperation between the two sides and looked ahead to the future.

Zhou Guangyong, Deputy Director of the Research Development Office, HUST, hosted the meeting. Also present were heads of the Office of International Affairs and other departments and offices of HUST.

The delegation also visited the University History Museum and the School of Mechanical Science & Engineering of HUST, and held talks with Academician Li Peigen.
