The 2021 International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application (Changchun) & The 12th China-ROK University Presidents’ Forum were held in Changchun, Jilin province, from September 7 to 8. President Li Yuanyuan attended the conference and related activities.

Tian Xuejun, Vice Minister of Education; An Lijia, Vice Governor of Jilin Province; and Afanasyev, the Russian Vice Minister of Science & Education Russia delivered speeches offline and online respectively. During the conference, 10 cooperation agreements were reached by colleges and universities at home and aboard on scientific research, platforms for high-level scientific and technological R&D, high-tech achievement transformation, and industrialization.

On September 8th, Yan Bingchen, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, MOE, and Li Haesook, International Cooperation Officer of the Ministry of Education of South Korea, attended the opening ceremony of the 12th China-ROK University Presidents’ Forum to deliver opening remarks. Presidents from more than 30 Chinese and Korean universities participated online and offline, discussing the future-oriented integrated innovation cooperation model. President Li Yuanyuan made a keynote speech themed Jointly Creating a Scientific Research Platform for Integration and Innovation, introducing HUST’s innovation chain of knowledge-technology-industry incubation, and the five innovation platforms consisting of basic research, applied research, university-local cooperation, university-enterprise cooperation, and international cooperation.
Li said that technological cooperation is the fundamental way to deal with global issues such as climate change and the energy crisis. He added that no country can stand idle. He called on Chinese and Korean universities to join hands in improving global innovation and integration capabilities; creating a fair, balanced, inclusive, and shared platform for international cooperation; pursuing high-quality progress in science and technolgy innovation to better face global scientific issues; achieving frontier breakthroughs; and building a global science and technology innovation community.
The China-ROK University Presidents’ Forum, initiated by the ministries of education of China and South Korea, was listed as a key cooperation project in education under the framework of the China-ROK Humanities Exchange Joint Committee. It has become an important platform for higher education exchanges between the two countries.
