“Raise the national flag!”

“Sing National Anthem!”

September 3rd, 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of Chinese People against Japan in WWⅡ. At 7 o’clock in the morning, Huazhong University of Science and Technology （HUST） held a special Flag-Raising Ceremony to commemorate the great victory 70 years ago. More than 3000 representatives of undergraduates and graduates took part in the activity. Lu Gang the Chairman of University Board, Ding Lieyun the President of HUST and Xu Xiaodong the Vice President of HUST attended.

Cao Renwei from School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, as the undergraduate representative, appealed the participated students to inherit the spirit of Anti-Japanese War. Zhang Jiaqi, a graduate representative from School of Mechanical Science and Engineering, also expressed that he would contribute what he had learnt to the army and the country.

Xu Xiaodong the Vice President put forward three expectations to the students: to set up goals and belief, to stick to practical styles and to carry forward creative spirit. He encouraged students to draw strength from history and strive continuously for our dreams.
