On 27 May, Confucius Institute at the University of Canterbury (CIUC) welcomes Liang Weinian, the standing member of CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, also the Director-General of Publicity Department of Hubei Province, who had a talk with the language teachers and students here.
“Confucius Institute is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the cultural exchanges and spread Chinese culture to the rest of the world, which is in line with the purpose of today’s “China Hubei Intangible Culture Heritage Exhibition” (CHICHE) tours. In addition, education is a cornerstone of a nation’s long-term development, which requires the joint endeavors from the educational departments, cultural communities as well as relevant industries. “
CICU teachers and students are immensely encouraged by Liang’s talk and expressed their strong determination to play a role as culture diplomats so that NZ people can have an increasingly better understanding of Chinese culture and Chinese people.
Liang Weinian was in Christchurch to attend CHICHE opening ceremony which was sponsored by Publicity Department of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee. The exhibition is one of a series of productive outcomes resulted from Hubei Provincial Party Committee Secretary Li Hongzhong’s visit to Christchurch in August of last year.
