On the morning of November 16, 2023, Prof. Hu Xiaoyong, invited by Prof. Chen Lin from the Integrated Photonics Functional Laboratory of the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, visited the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics. During this event, Prof. Hu Xiaoyong performed as a guest at the 199th Wuhan Optoelectronics Forum and gave a report titled Photonic Information Processing Chips.
Initially, Prof. Chen Lin gave an introduction to Prof. Hu Xiaoyong, covering his research direction, academic contributions and representative scientific research results. Subsequently, Prof. Lu Peiqiang, deputy vice director of Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, presented Prof. Hu Xiaoyong with a forum medal, marking the official commencement of the report.
In his report, Prof. Hu Xiaoyong addressed challenges in the development of integrated optical chips and introduced the theme of this forum from two aspects: high-speed, low-loss nonlinear materials, and highly localized integrated nanostructures. The report included various novel ideas for achieving ultra-fast, low-loss and highly integrated optical chips. It mainly included the construction of composite nonlinear materials, governance on photonic topological states, the design of optical computing silicon chip, etc. Prof. Hu Xiaoyong focuses on: non-Hermitian controlled on-chip CsPbBr3perovskite laser, Te nanosheet ultrafast electron relaxation, non-Hermitian topological phase transition induced by nonlinear effect, on-chip topological rainbow effect, silicon-based four arithmetic and logic operation photonic chip, Von Neumann architecture photonic chips and other advanced academic work.
The atmosphere during the report was dynamic, with teachers and students engaging in lively discussions with Prof. Hu Xiaoyong on various academic issues and current hot topics.
