On November 4th, the opening ceremony of the 2023 International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application (Hubei), jointly organized by the Department of Education of Hubei Province and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, was held at HUST. In the afternoon, the sub-forum of the conference hosted by the School of EIC was successfully. The forum themed on "New Generation of Information and Communications Technology" invited eight scholars and industry experts from China, Sweden, Finland, the U.K., South Africa, Canada, Australia, France to give academic speeches. Nearly a hundred teachers, graduate students, and international students participated in the forum both online and offline, and had in-depth discussions on the new generation technologies in the field of information and communications.
The sub-forum is hosted by Prof. Ge Xiaohu, Vice-dean of the School of EIC. Ge Qian, Party Secretary of the school, delivered a welcoming speech. She warmly welcomed the attending experts, and hoped that the forum can promote the cooperation between the school and overseas universities and enterprises.
Then, Dr. Nikolaos Pappas from Linköping University gave a speech on “From Information Freshness to Semantics of Information and Goal-oriented Communications”.Dr. Conghao Zhou from University of Waterloo gave a presentation on “Digital Twin-based 3D Map Management for Edge-assisted Mobile Augmented Reality”. Dr. Xianfu Chen from the National Centre for Technical Research of Finland delivered a speech themed on “6G Meets ML: Connectivity, computing and control co-design”. Prof. Amit Mishra from the University of Cape Town gave a speech on “Bio-Inspired Sensing and Sensor Data Processing”. Prof. Wing Kwan Ng from University of New South Wales gave a speech titled “Optimization for Green Intelligent Reflecting Surface-enabled B5G Communications”. Dr. Zilong Liu from University of Essex delivered a speech on “Code-Domain NOMA for 6G Massive Access”. Dr. Siqi Wang from Sorbonne University gave a speech titled “Application of Artificial Intelligence and Third-generation Neural Networks Based on Neuromorphic Chips in Radio Frequency Telecommunication”. Senior engineer Keng Li from FiberHome shared his speech on “Intelligent Optical Access Network Empowers Digital Transformation”.
At the forum, teachers and students had in-depth discussions with the experts on the reports. The scholars and industry experts also shared their experience in school-enterprise cooperation and their opinions on how to pursue win-win relationships and mutual benefits in cooperation.
