On May 23rd, the unveiling ceremony of HUST-vivo Joint Research Center of Information and Communications was held at the headquarters of vivo.
Shen Wei, the founder of vivo and alumnus of class 1989, extended his warm welcome to the delegation from HUST, and introduced the development of vivo.
Liang Xi, Vice-president of HUST, expressed his congratulation on the establishment of the center and gratitude for the long time support from vivo. He pointed out that HUST has forged close collaboration with local governments and leading corporations and has made great contributions to local economic development by establishing research institutions and joint research centers, and facilitating commercialization of research achievements. He hoped that this center can serve as a bridge to enable two sides to forge closer, deeper and more extensive relationship, and to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.
Qiu Caiming, Dean of the school of electronic information and communications, and Yu Meng, vivo Vice-president for image and video, signed the agreement on behalf of the two sides respectively. They also visited exhibition hall, simulation network laboratory, vivo-Zessi Joint Laboratory of Image and Video, and intelligent manufacturing center at vivo, and learned the progress in the collaboration on the R&D of information and communication technology.
On the basis of mutual benefits and mutual development, vivo and HUST will develop long-term and sustainable partnership in the research fields like image and video processing, AI, communication technology, wireless perception, integrated circuit and extended reality. The excellent research strength of HUST will be combined with the advantage of vivo in commercialization of technology to make contributions to the industry of information and communications.
