Personal Profile

Guo Hongxing received the B.S and Ph.D from Wuhan University. He served as a Post Ph.D researcher at school of computer science and technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST) for two years, where he is an associate professor now. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Alberta, Canada, financially supported by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) from August, 2010 to August, 2011, then he continued as a visiting professor at the same university from September, 2011 to November, 2011. He has been engaged on research and teaching in video coding and intelligent processing, networked video streaming systems and next generation wireless networking and VANETs for more than ten years. He published several papers in some important journals and conferences such as ACM Multimedia、IEEE ICME、IEEE ICCCN and Springer Multimedia Systems, one paper was nominated as the best paper candidates at IEEE ICME 2011. He also developed practical embedded video servers, which were applied to networked video surveillance systems successfully.

Lab of Multimedia Storage

Description of Research Group: It is one of the earliest institutions engaged in multimedia research in China, and one of the initiators and vice-dean level unit of the Multimedia Professional Group of CCF (Multimedia Technical Committee now). In 2009, it was officially called "Multimedia Stream Computing and Storage" Laboratory, which is affiliated to the Storage Research Institute of School of Computer Science. The team boasts 5 teachers and more than 20 postgraduates. Based on the computer system and architecture and computer application disciplines, the team carries out innovative researches concerning basic theories and core technologies in the frontier field of multimedia stream computing and storage, develops the prototype system of hardware and software, realizes the transfer of technological achievements, and cultivates all-round leading talents with strong professional ability. It has produced several research highlights with international influence. It aims to build itself as the characteristic direction of the School of Computer Science and Technology of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, ranking top ten in the field of multimedia stream computing and storage.
