Personal Profile

Graduated from the School of Computer Science and Technology at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Dr. Wei is an associate professor, a Supervisor of Doctorate Candidates and an overseas post-doctor. He now works as the director of the Cognitive Computing and Intelligent Information Processing (CCIIP) Laboratory in the School of Computer Science at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). His research fields include artificial intelligence, natural language processing, information retrieval, data mining(textual mining, social media analysis and mining), machine learning and recommendation system. During his PHD years, he was dedicated to research work at Microsoft Research Asia, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and National University of Singapore successively. After obtaining doctorate in 2012, Dr. Wei started his postdoctoral research at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and Singapore Management University respectively. He has been the reviewer sof major academic journals such as IEEE TKDE, IEEE TC, ACM TIST, ACM TOIS, IEEE TASLP, Information Science, Pattern Recognition and Chinese Journal of Computers. Upon invitation, he.also serves as the EMNLP 2022 Area-Chair、SIGKDD 2021 Post-Chair、IJCAI 2021 Senior PC，IJCAI Novel Program Committee Board (2022-2024). Besides, Dr. Wei is a permanent member of many international committees on academic conference procedures, such as IJCAI, AAAI, ACL, SIGKDD, ENMLP, NAACL, CIKM, NLPCC, COLING, EACL and so on,

Dr. Wei is now a member of Association for Computing Machinery(ACM), a senior member of China Computer Federation and an executive committee member of its subordinate, the Technical Committee on Natural Language Processing. He also holds membership of the Chinese Information Processing Society of China, and its subordinates, the Youth Working Committee and the Special Committee on Social Media Processing. Additionally, the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence together with its subsidiaries, the Youth Working Committee and Special Committee on Social Computing and Social Intelligence grant Mr. Wei with membership. Working as a leading member, Mr. Wei played a key role in 1 project of the National High Technology Research and Development Program 863, another 2 projects project leadered by Media Development Authority of Singapore, and the Graphor project of Microsoft Research Asia. Till now, he has published more than 70 high-level academic conference papers and journal papers on world journals such as ACL, AAAI, IJCAI, SIGKDD, SIGIR, WWW, SIGMOD, PVLDB, ICDE, CVPR, ACM MM, CIKM, IEEE TKDE, ACM TOIS, IEEE T-CYB, ACM TWEB, IEEE TC, IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine (CIM) etc. Currently, he is leading quite a few key projects, namely 2 national natural science funds subjects(a general program and Youth Program), 1program of the "13th Five-Year" project(Co-PI), multiple national defense programs, 1 program of Hubei natural science foundation, 2 major horizontal projects of enterprises, CCF-Ant Fund and multiple horizontal projects of enterprises. The project funds amount to 18 million Yuan.

Our lab has sufficient research fund and quota for postgraduates (postgraduates will be provided with sound research environment and development opportunities)

Young teachers and post doctors, doctors, masters and undergraduate students dedicated to academic researches are welcome to join us.

We will provide for young teachers and post doctors: salary+allowance+research allowance(350k-450k)

Senior undergraduates are welcome to take internship at our lab. ( they will have the opportunities to be recommended to renowned universities and institutes in the U.S, Singapore, Australia,  and Microsoft Research Asia for PHD)
