报告题目:Understanding Electrocatalytic CO2 and CO Reduction on Cu at the Molecular Level

报告摘要:

Electrocatalysis powered by renewable energy is expected to play a pivotal role in the global decarbonization process. In particular, electrocatalytic CO2 and CO reduction reactions (CO(2)RR) are widely considered as indispensable components in the valorization of CO2. Much recent research effort has been devoted to the development of efficient and selective catalysts for valuable C2+ products on Cu surfaces, however, many open questions regarding how species in the electrochemical interfaces impact the activity and selectivity remain. In this lecture, recent efforts in understanding the impact of the surface speciation, adsorbed reaction intermediates and near surface species, including anions and cations, on the CO(2)RR at the molecular level. Mechanistic investigations on the electroreductive C-C coupling reactions leading to C3+ products will also be covered briefly. In-situ/operando surface enhanced vibrational spectroscopies, i.e., surface enhanced infrared and Raman spectroscopies, prove to be enabling tools in the identification of active sites and elucidation of reaction mechanisms. The interconnected nature of species at the electrochemical interface makes the assignment of their individual roles in electrocatalytic processes challenging, but also offers ample opportunities for future interfacial engineering in renewable energy devices.


报告人简介:

徐冰君,现任北京大学化学与分子工程学院李革赵宁讲席教授。哈佛大学物理化学博士(2011),加州理工学院化工系博后(2011-2013),曾任美国特拉华大学化学与分子生物工程系助理教授(2013)与centennial development讲席副教授(2019),于2020年加入北京大学。曾获ACS石油研究基金新人奖(2015);美国空军科研办公室新人奖(2016);美国自然科学基金新人奖(2017);I&EC有影响力学者(2018);教育部长江特聘教授(2020)。

现担任Science Advances与物理化学学报副主编,Scientific Reports编委。徐冰君课题组致力于多相热、电催化界面机理研究,发展界面敏感的原位表征技术,开发高效、高选择性的催化材料与过程。在生物质转化,碳氢化合物升级,二氧化碳捕集与升级等方向在Nature EnergyJACSAngew. Chem.Nat. Commun. ACS Catal.等杂志发表了100余篇科学论文。
